TIME OF FULFILLMENT

1. WE HAVE GROWN FAT

On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.- Zechariah 12:3 NIV

The lion has roared— who will not fear? The Sovereign Lord has spoken— who can but prophesy? - Amos 3:8

Jesus said in Mark 1:15 that “This is the time of fulfillment. That the oracles foretold by the prophets are fulfilled at this time. In Lk 4:21 He said “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

When we were baptized into Christ, the yoke of the devil on us was destroyed because of the anointing of the Holy Spirit (Is 10:27) Some Bible versions say the yoke is destroyed because our neck has enlarged, other versions say because we have grown fat. This equally means that any further yokes satan will place on us will fall off because of the anointing which fattened us or enlarged our neck.

That is why our opening verse says we are "immovable rock, All who try to move us will injure themselves." Also, Jesus the source of this anointing in us, is the Mighty Stone. The Bible says that "Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; anyone on whom it falls will be crushed.”(Matt 21:44 )

B) WE ARE THE TERROR OF THE ENEMY

When Israel came out of Egypt, Jacob from a people of foreign tongue, Judah became God’s sanctuary, Israel his dominion. The sea looked and fled, the Jordan turned back; the mountains leaped like rams, the hills like lambs. Psalms 114:1‭-‬4 NIV

Imagine being bullied in school for years to a point you made up your mind to learn karate and bodybuilding. Then coming back to school, your bully saw you and fled with terror. After baptism , we received the anointing of the Holy Spirit, the very creator of the world lives in us. We are no longer bullied by the elemental forces of this world.

The enemy sees us as a terror to him, because captivity has changed hands. This fulfills the oracle of the prophets " They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.(Isaiah 14:2) That is why the bible says "Why was it, sea, that you fled? Why, Jordan, did you turn back? Why, mountains, did you leap like rams, you hills, like lambs? (Psalms 114:5‭-‬6)

The problem is not even the enemy, because they are scared stiff that God is down here instead of up there. The problem is; do we know this? The enemy likes it when we are ignorant of the truth. This truth lies in the word of God. The Lord said "Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth."John 17:17

The word of God sanctifies, makes us holy, that is, cleanses and sets us apart from everything that can defy us, this includes sin and every distress, but keeps us in the path of life, peace and prosperity.

C) OUR BLOOD IS PRECIOUS TO GOD

May all kings bow down to him and all nations serve him. For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help. He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death. He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.- Psalms 72:11‭-‬14 a

The prophecy in our opening text is fulfilled in Christ, that is why Christ died for us. So, Are you spiritually or financially poor, are you afflicted with no one to help, are you looking for means of living and have no one to help, are you the oppressed and brokenhearted? You are adopted into the family of God.

That is why the Lord came, for He said “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free" Luke 4:18

Think about what this means from our opening verse "FOR PRECIOUS IS THEIR BLOOD IN HIS SIGHT"

D) WE ARE GOD'S FAMILY

As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” - Isaiah 66:13 NIV

What a great comfort indeed that we are the children of the most powerful person in the whole universe. Our lives have changed for the best. 1John 3:1 says "See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him."

Imagine this comfort, the bible says "Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.(Hebrews 2:11)

This means that both the Comforter and those who are comforted are of the same family. That is, both the one who heals, gives long life, joy, peace and prosperity, and those who benefit all these are of the same family.

Brothers and sisters what else can we ask for? We should be giving him glorious praises and walking with uplifted faces. David said "I rise at midnight to thank you for your just regulations".(Ps 119:62)

TIME OF FULFILLMENT

E) WE ARE SHEPHERDS

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10 NIV

Fullness of life, known as Eternal life, is the life God promised his children through the mouth of his prophets. The Lord said "But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel." (Micah 5:2,4)

Jesus is that true and good Shepherd God, our heavenly Father gave us. He hates it that his sheep are harassed by the elemental forces of this world. In Matthew 9:36, "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd".

The same Lord is in us now, do you think He will allow us to be harrassed by sin and it's distress? Is 63:9 says "In all our afflictions, He is afflicted most" Several times in the scripture, the Lord's heart was wrought with compassion for us. For this reason, He wants us to take this knowledge of salvation to the ends of the earth.

2 Cor 1:4 tells us that "God comforts us so we can comfort others". As priests and kings of the Most High, We are all shepherds of God"s flock. The Lord is in us, and his heart is still wrought with compassion for his flock, so He shepherds his flock through us, so let's not break the chain.

TIME OF FULFILLMENT

F) WE ARE SEALED IN JESUS

Just as you, Judah and Israel, have been a curse among the nations, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid, but let your hands be strong.”- Zech 8:13

This prophecy is fulfilled in our lives today. Consider a food as good as the Holy Communion, a food prepared by the Holy Trinity, that is, by the will of the Father, the working power of the Holy Spirit and death of Jesus. A food for which God the Father placed his seal of approval on Jesus to give his children.(Jn 6:27)

Every manufacturer places his seal of approval on their products and we like them. How about the one God makes? A food that seals us in Jesus and Jesus in us. We know that no matter how imperfect we are, in Jesus we are complete and perfect before God.

David recalled how God's works reflect his excellence, majesty and splendor, He burst out in joyfully praise "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Psalms 139:14

TIME OF FULFILLMENT

G) JESUS IS OUR SURETY

Be surety for Your servant for good, let not the proud oppress me. Psalm 119:122

Imagine being in distress or jailed and there is no one to surety you. When Joseph demanded that his brothers should bring Benjamin to Egypt, then they didn't know he was Joseph. Jacob refused to let Benjamin go with them for fear of losing him, Judah stood as a surety for the safety of Benjamin, his brother.

He said: "I myself will be surety for him; from my hand you shall require him. If I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, then let me bear the blame forever."(Genesis 43:9)

Just as Judah became surety for Benjamin, Our Lord Jesus , the Lion of the tribe of Judah, is sitting today at the right hand power of God as surety for us, his brothers. Because of him, our safety, wellbeing is guaranteed, that is we have eternal life" because He lives, we shall live".Hebrews 7:22 says "by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant"

Do you think anything can undo this?

Psalm 104:9 says "You have set a boundary [for the waters] which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to deluge the earth." The same God that set the boundary and the waters obey, placed Christ as our surety, do you think we will ever suffer condemnation, sickness, wretchedness and all kinds of distress? Remember ", and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

Matthew 16:18

That is why the psalmist says "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the Lord had been my help, My soul would soon have settled in silence. If I say, “My foot slips,” Your mercy, O Lord , will hold me up".(Psalms 94:16‭-‬18 )

TIME OF FULFILLMENT

H) HALLOW BE THY NAME

And I will vindicate the holiness of My great name and separate it for its holy purpose from all that defiles it.- Ezekiel 36:23 AMPC

Today, the Lord has hallowed his name by giving us the Holy name of Jesus. The name Jesus is already set apart from everything that defiles it, such as sin and its distress.

That is why, when we encounter challenges that defile the name of God, such as sickness, wretchedness, untimely death, temptations etc, we pray in the name of Jesus, and they bow.

The sweetest thing about this is that we live in Jesus. Eph 1:4 tells us that "Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes." This means that even before this world and it's distress were made, God already set us apart from them, by ingrafting us in Jesus. This way, He already magnified us above every earthly circumstances we might face. GLORIA IN EXCELSIS DEO!

That is why 2 Cor 2:14 says "Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Let's never complain about our earthly circumstances anymore, for God has magnified us above them , we existed before them and they don't define us. Therefore, because we are in Jesus, we are living a holy life all the days of our life, and are walking in the right paths of life, a path set apart from all that defiles it. That is why the scripture says "Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.- Ps 85:13
