“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth,..

John 16:12-13 ESV

Think of how much we are missing out because we are not living in fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The Lord said to Nathaniel, “ You will see greater things than that.” (John 1:50 NIV) Do you want to see greater things in life, sacrifice time for the Holy Spirit, prioritize devotion to His words over worldly desires, and you will discover the truth and the truth will make you great in life.

In our catholic church, there is an introductory prayer of thanksgiving, a Eucharistic preface given before the Eucharistic prayer during lent that says, “For you have given your children a sacred time for the renewing and purifying of their hearts, that, freed from disordered affections, they may so deal with the things of this passing world as to hold rather to the things that eternally endure.”

Beloved, season of lent is the best time to cleanse our hearts with the Word of God. Ephesians 5:26 calls it, “washing of water with the word.” Renew our minds for things that eternally endure. Our finances, marriages, health and wellbeing etc are things of this passing world. No matter how perfect they might appear, they are passing away, but the word of God eternally endures. Psalm 119:96 ESV says, “To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless.”

Thus we are commanded to be holy for our God is holy. We cannot be holy, set apart from things of this passing world by our works , rather by truth , His words. John 17:17 NIV says, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” That is why the season of lent is a sacred time to sanctify, cleanse our hearts of all things of this passing world with the Word of God.

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO DEVOTE TO HIS WORDS IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

THANK YOU JESUS!
