1. OUR GENEALOGY

For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.- 1 Peter 1:23 NLT

After baptism, even though we look the same, we are a new kind of man, created in the true image and likeness of God, same as Jesus. Our genealogy is not traced to our ancestors, rather to the Word of God. That is why we are not subject to ancestral curses.

This is our genealogy: "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. He came to his own homeland, yet his own people did not receive him. But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.(John 1:1‭-‬3‭, ‬11-‬13)

Never let anyone tease you with ancestral curses, for we are now brand new, old things are passed away (2 Cor 5:17) God does not give birth the same way as humans do, even our challenges are part of our creation. God's creative hands are still holding us till we receive our new bodies, celestial bodies.

That is why the bible says "Adam, the first man, was made from the dust of the earth, while Christ, the second man, came from heaven. Earthly people are like the earthly man, and heavenly people are like the heavenly man. Just as we are now like the earthly man, we will someday be like the heavenly man.(1 Corinthians 15:47‭-‬49)

B) THE FATHERHOOD OF GOD.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,

Romans 8:16 NKJV

If you want to verify the paternity of a child, you test the DNA. In the kingdom of God, we do not test DNA's, we trace paternity through the Spirit of God, He is the one who affirms with our spirit that we are the children of God. He is the life in every child of God. 1Cor 12:13 says "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body"

I John 5:8 says "there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one"

The water is the water of baptism showing that we are dead to this world and alive in Christ, the blood rescued us from darkness into the kingdom of Christ and the Spirit affirms this.

That was why when we were baptized into Christ, we were created anew in the true nature of God, same spiritual personality. "Spirit gives birth to spirits". Rom 8:15 says; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father". Our Lord Jesus said "as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, (Jn 5:26 )

So the same life of God in Jesus, is in us for " as He is so we are in this world" That is why the bible says "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.(I John 5:11‭-‬12)

Brothers and sisters, which life are we living today? Human life or this eternal life of God?

C) BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT ALL THE TIME

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

Ephesians 5:18 KJV

If you are driving and stops at a red light, and another car is coming behind you slowly, you will notice that when the light turns green, the car driving slowly behind you will overtake you. Why? Because your car has potential energy, which needs to be converted to kinetic energy for the car to accelerate. While the car driving slowly behind you has kinetic energy, energy due to its acceleration, and can easily speed off.

If we are filled with the Spirit all the time, we are like the car with kinetic energy ready for action. We are ever ready to engage in any spiritual warfare. There is little or no room for us to relate to God with our senses . Those 7 spirits of God are at work in us. Those are the Spirits we received through Jesus. "Just as my Father sent me I send you" Isaiah 11:2 spoke about them. "The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord "

The easiest way to be filled at all times is through word meditation and praising God at all times. The bible says "speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Eph 5:19‭-‬20 )

D) LOVE GOD BEYOND HUMAN SENSES

who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:13 NKJV

We can grow our relationship with God based on the nature of our new birth. Our verse tells us the nature of our birth, "not of blood,nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God". Our new birth is not of human will, desire or decisions, but birth that comes from God, that is God himself is our Father.

This should be our comfort in our daily challenges, that our birth is not of will of man or flesh, but of God. Psalms 119:50 says "This is my comfort in my affliction, For Your word has given me life". That's our genealogy is not of the world.

Let's not relate with God the human way, our Father-children relationship with God should be beyond human reasoning, will or understanding. Romans 8:8 says " those who are in the flesh cannot please God". Why? Because our sonship is not from the flesh but from the Holy Spirit. If we base our relationship with God on our earthly circumstances, we will find it difficult to love God with all our hearts and strength, hence cannot worship him joyfully

Because, when things are good, we are happy, the Lord is good; when things are bad, we are sad. That is why our earthly circumstances never dictate our sonship with God but the Spirit does for "it is the Spirit that bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God".- Rom 8:16. So, lets live in the spirit.

Now, how do we live and walk in Spirit as the children of God? The answer is the word of God. Remember the words of the Lord " It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." (John 6:63 )

E) WE GO BY FAITH

who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:13 NKJV

We can see from our text that by nature of our birth, we are not subject to the will of the flesh nor that of a man, but of God. Let's always refuse those elemental forces of this world that harass us for we are not subject to them.

Matthew 11:12 says "from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force." How do we posses our kingdom by force? Through faith. So, we go by faith not by senses.

Regarding the giants of Anaks, in Deut 9:3, Moses told the Israelites "recognize today that the Lord your God is the one who will cross over ahead of you like a devouring fire to destroy them. He will subdue them so that you will quickly conquer them and drive them out, just as the Lord has promised."

Therefore, no matter our challenges, we relate to God beyond human senses, with faith that He has subdued, and we will conquer. Remember, "every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith (1 John 5:4)

Eii) LIVE IN THE WILL OF GOD

who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:13 NKJV

Our text tells us that we are born not of the will of the flesh but of God. Some of the wills of the flesh include: ungodly life, sickness, wretchedness, untimely death, distress. But the will of God which is fulfilled in Jesus is that we might have fullness of life, that is peace of mind and well beings, godliness, above not below, head not the tail, we should have enough to lend not to borrow, length of days etc.

We should learn to conform and believe in the will we were born into. Romans 8:13-14 says "For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." How do we by the Spirit put to death the deeds of the body? It is through faith built by the Word of God.

That's why Romans 12:2 says "And do not be conformed to the customs of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God"

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO LIVE OUR LIVES IN CONFORMITY TO THE WILL OF GOD AND NOT OF THE FLESH TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

F) THE VIRGIN BIRTH

Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field, and the fruitful field is valued as a forest.- Isaiah 32:15 AMPC

We are children of the Holy Spirit, the Lord said "Spirit gives birth to spirits" . The Lord sees us as virgins, that is blameless, justified and glorified. So we are entitled to a virgin birth. God has this pattern of doing things; Remember the first time He came down to save our ancestors from slavery in Egypt, He gave a sign "Bush engulfed in flames but never burnt". Only those that trusted God with their challenges, persevered as "Bush engulfed in flames but never burnt",made it to the promised land.

Today, He has come down again and gave us a sign of a virgin birth. Virgin birth was carried out by the Holy Spirit. So, no matter our situation in life, God sees us as the bush engulfed in flames but never burnt. God sees us as virgins, that is justified, glorified, new and blameless before him, therefore perfect candidates for virgin birth.

Even when we think time is not on our side , we are still virgins and can only be fruitful by the power of the holy Spirit. Let's not bother about how, for it is only by the Spirit.

Remember when Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.” The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you...(Luke 1:34‭-‬35)

LET'S PERSEVERE!

G) THE VIRGIN BIRTH II

Brothers and sisters, we are treasures in earthen vessels, our power of excellence is of the Holy Spirit not from us. Those challenges we are facing no matter how severe does not define us, for we are like virgins, that is blameless, waiting for a virgin birth. Those challenges are like the bush engulfed with flames but never burnt. The flames we are seeing, only beautifies us, it adds to our glory. At the right time , The Holy Spirit will come upon it. Our duty is just to live by faith in God, and wait patiently for him.

That is why St Paul said "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

2 Corinthians 4:16‭-‬18

That is why our relationship with God should go beyond human senses, what is seen

GII) THE VIRGIN BIRTH CONCLUDES

Through the signs of the virgin birth and the "Bush engulfed in flames but never burnt" we learnt that no matter how challenging our earthly circumstances seems to be, the Lord sees us as virgins, that is blameless, and a bush engulfed in flames that never burnt.

Also, as children of the Holy Spirit, we cannot do anything by our power or might but by the Holy Spirit. This is very important because we are at the tail end of this world. The Lord told us in this period, the love of God will grow cold due to lawlessness, anxiety, lack of endurance.

If we live by believing we can do this by ourselves, we will easily get distracted,and anxious?, choking all the good things Jesus put in us (see Matt 13:22, the parable of the seed sower) But if we believe in the Spirit of our Father in us, we will run this race to the end.

Let's be careful not to be impatient like the Israelites who murmured against God and got bitten by Saraph serpents(Num 21:4-6)

Remember, we are in the era of Spiritual birth and can only function in the Spirit. In the world we will have anxieties but in the Spirit, we will have peace.

H) ARE YOU RISING OR FALLING

And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, Behold, this Child is appointed and destined for the fall and rising of many in Israel, and for a sign that is spoken against–

Luke 2:34 AMPC

Are you rising with the gospel of Jesus or are you falling with it? This depends if we are relating to God with or beyond human senses. Hebrew 4:12 says "For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" The word builds and divides families, friends etc.

The gospel of Jesus is the stone the builders rejected which has become a cornerstone to the believers and a stumbling block to others.

Is 8:14 says "And He shall be a sanctuary [a sacred and indestructible asylum to those who reverently fear and trust in Him]; but He shall be a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem".

The bible said this about the Israelites that did not believe the gospel : "the people of Israel, who pursued the law as the way of righteousness, have not attained their goal. Why not? Because they pursued it not by faith but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone. As it is written: “See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who believes in him will never be put to shame.”(Romans 9:31‭-‬33 )

God's ways are too simple for the world to believe. Hosea 14:9 says "The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them." Imagine believing that a carpenter's son is God and that a piece of bread is the body of God. That is why the bible says "He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.(Luke 1:52‭-‬53 )

Let's accept the gospel of our Lord Jesus with faith, that's, the way it is, even if it doesn't connect with our senses, we believe and never accept it with our human reasonings.

H1) ANXIETY FREE LIFE

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.- Galatians 2:20 NIV

Through baptism we are dead to this life and raised to a new life with Christ, Christ is our new life(Col 3:4) As our opening verse says we live our lives in the faith of Jesus, who is our life and the Lord of our life.

The Lord described his life as "I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I have spoken to you,“do not come from me. The Father, who remains in me, does his own work.(John 14:10)

Since Jesus is our life, then our new life is "AM IN THE FATHER, AND THE FATHER IS IN ME" So we live by putting faith in Jesus, our new life and not in ourselves anymore.

That is why the Lord said “When you lift up the Son of Man, you will know that ‘I Am Who I Am’; then you will know that I do nothing on my own authority, but I say only what the Father has instructed me to say (John 8:28)

We don't really know who we are, or what we are made of until we go through challenges, so we don't fret at challenges for we are made of the Father. The human life is made of genes but we are made up of the Spirit of our Heavenly Father.

Always be aware of how we were born "They did not become God's children by natural means, that is, by being born as the children of a human father; God himself was their Father.(John 1:13 ) Don't be afraid to believe, for we did not receive this by our merit but because of what Jesus did for us.

Brothers and sisters we are not alone, the Lord told the disciples "The time is coming, and is already here, when all of you will be scattered, each of you to your own home, and I will be left all alone. But I am not really alone, because the Father is with me.

John 16:32

" Be still and know that I am the Lord".

H2) ANXIETY FREE LIFE

When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.- John 14:20 NLT

Brothers and sisters, God has given us a new life, Jesus (Col 3:4) And our new life is in the Father and the Father in us. This is the life our heavenly Father planned for us, for the scripture says "For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

Romans 8:29

The Lord is already calling us brothers and sisters, in John 20:17, when He resurrected He told Mary Magdalene "... go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

Hebrew 2:11 tells us that " Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters." While 1Jn 3:2 says "Dear friends, now we are children of God"

Brothers and Sisters, He who called us into this new life in Jesus is faithful. Psalms 119:90 says "Your faithfulness endures to all generations; You established the earth, and it abides." If God established the earth with the word of his mouth and it abides, how much more his children He gave birth to by his word of truth?

1 Tim 5:8 says "Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever" Do you think God is an unbeliever? And cannot provide for his children?

ALL GENERATIONS SHALL CALL US CHILDREN OF GOD!

I) SABBATH DAY

“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Exodus 20:8 NIV

We all enjoy our days off or vacation days, and don't want it disrespected. The Lord created this great world, both seen and unseen in 6 days and set only one day apart for himself to rest. It's his day. He wants us to honor it with him. Remember, that was our first day with the Lord after we were created.

Look out what He promised us if we honor his holy day:

“If you keep your feet from breaking the Sabbath and from doing as you please on my holy day, if you call the Sabbath a delight and the Lord ’s holy day honorable, and if you honor it by not going your own way and not doing as you please or speaking idle words, then you will find your joy in the Lord , and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land and to feast on the inheritance of your father Jacob.” The mouth of the Lord has spoken.- Isaiah 58:13‭-‬14

Let's honor the Lord' s special day, it is really a great gift for us to honor it with him. Let's make it ceremonious, and thank him for all the good things He did for us in Jesus.

J) TRUE FASTING

‘Why have we fasted,’ they say, ‘and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?’ “Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.

Isaiah 58:3 NIV

Let's use this holiest week, the last week of lent, to reflect on the type of fasting the Lord seeks. We know God is Spirit and seeks to be worshipped in spirit and truth.

The Lord explained this as unacceptable "Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high. (Is 58:4 )

However, He also explained the kind of fasting He wants: “ to lose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I"

The Lord also said “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves on behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.

(Isaiah 58:6‭-‬7‭, ‬9‭-‬10)

Basically the kind of fasting He needs is praying for one another, loving and doing charity. The Lord hates it when we attack one another, for in Christ we are all siblings. He said "You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.- Ps 50:20

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO OBSERVE TRUE FASTING TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

L) OUR DESTINATION

Then he said, “I tell you the truth, you will all see heaven open and the angels of God going up and down on the Son of Man, the one who is the stairway between heaven and earth. ” - John 1:51 NLT

In Genesis 28:12, "Jacob had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it." 4000 years after the dream, Jesus revealed to us in our theme verse that He is that stairway between heaven and earth.

Brothers and sisters, Christ has paid for our trip to heaven. Philippians 3:20 tells us that "we are the citizens of heaven". We are all heading to one destination home, heaven, not alone but with his grace. Some of us might be flying, some running, some swimming, some walking or crawling. No one should look down on one another, for it does not matter how we get there, what matters is did you arrive?

Let's be careful not to lose our ticket as some of our ancestors did in the wilderness by not trusting God, upon all He did for them (See Numbers 14) Always remember that, in any situation, the Lord has subdued, our duty is to conquer by faith. THE KEY TO TRIUMPH IS TO LOVE GOD ABOVE HUMAN SENSES

THAT IS, DO NOT RELATE TO GOD BY WHAT WE SEE, BUT BY OUR FAITH.

WE PRAY FOR THE GRACE TO ARRIVE TO HEAVEN TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME AMEN!

I THIRST

And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.”

John 12:32 NLT

Have you pondered why Jesus endured for 6 hours on the cross. The Bible tells us that the Lord was crucified at 9am but died at 3pm

( Mk 11:25,34) Why did He stay that long enduring the pain,the nails, humiliations, abandonment and shame?

The answer is "I Thirst" He is thirsty for you and me. 2 Cor 5:19 tells us that "God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation."

Remember He said this to his apostles "But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me.

(John 16:32)

"The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

(John 10:17‭-‬18) So He died at his own accord after " it is finished"

Brothers and sisters, let us not receive this message of the cross in vain, just as the Lord hung on the cross for 6 hours for us, let us hang on this good news of the cross until it soaks into our spirit and spreads to the ends of the earth.

We should be proud to have Jesus as our Lord, I AM PROUD. If He can hang on the cross like that for us, what else can't He do for us now He is representing us in heaven.
