To arise and shine our light, we have to deny our old nature and believe in the new. Romans 6:11 ESV says, “So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.” For though our old sinful nature is dead, the body of sin, the flesh is not dead. We have to put it to death by continuously renewing our minds with the word of God. For “if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” (Romans 8:13 ESV) The Word of God is Spirit and life.
